Eurycoma Longifolia increases hormone levels in young adults

This placebo-controlled, double-blind, matched-paired study assessed the impact of Eurycoma longifolia on the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal and hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axes in healthy young males (n=32) who received 600 mg/day of Eurycoma longifolia or placebo for 2 weeks.

Blood analysis showed significant interaction and time effects for testosterone (p = 0.005), free testosterone (p = 0.012) and estradiol (p = 0.008) levels in favour of the treatment group.

The raised testosterone level may be due to a greater rate of hormone production via the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.

The raised testosterone following Eurycoma longifolia supplementation may benefit to muscle and strength gain in young adults.
