Scientific and Regulatory
- The use of botanicals in foods is currently not harmonized at European level. Each European Member State may have its own positive and/or negative lists of botanicals, with possible specific conditions of use (parts of plants, warnings, maximal doses, …). Our Nutraveris’on line database lists the legislative status in countries for more than 2100 ingredients with nutritional or physiological effect, of which botanicals, for use in foods supplements.
- In the framework of Regulation (EC) N° 1924/2006, the process of evaluation for health claims on botanicals is still under consideration by the European Commission.
